Tony is the Chief Executive and Chief Fire Officer of Merseyside Fire & Rescue Service, and has been in the fire service for more than 33 years. He joined Greater Manchester Fire Service in 1976, after serving in Buckinghamshire and Essex as Operations Commander, he joined Merseyside Fire & Rescue Authority on 1st September 1996 as Assistant Chief Fire Officer (Fire Safety) and also took over all the Technical references in April 1997. He became Chief Fire Officer in early 2002.
He has a Masters Degree in Human Resource Management and is a Fellow of both the Institution of Fire Engineers and the Residential Sprinklers Association. He represents the Chief Fire Officers Association on a number of committees as well as at European level, and is a member of the Metro Fire Chiefs.
Tony has received the Queen’s Fire Service Medal for his services to public safety as well as the Fire Service Long Service and Good Conduct Medal.
He is a non-Executive Director of World Skills 2011 Ltd, a Board Member of Fire Conferences and Exhibitions Ltd and is President of The Fire Brigades Society.As a Friend we are able to get involved with as many aspects of the Trust as we wish, from assisting the management team with marketing and PR planning.
